About Us
It was the best of times. From the dawn of rock 'n' roll to the final rumblings of punk, the vinyl format was king. Nothing could compare to the excitement of purchasing a slab of wax, taking it home and slapping it on the turntable. And then there was the endless joy of poring over the cover and sleeve notes. Whether it be a copy of Gene Vincent's 'Blue Jean Bop', Love's 'Forever Changes', any album on Blue Note, the tri fold-out indulgence of the Spring album or fondling the hessian sleeve of Joy Division's 'Still', it was an experience. A ritual.
Then along came the compact disc and life got altogether too clinical, convenient and dull, and the music of the time seemed to reflect that it was the end of a golden age. Our beloved black stuff was consigned to sale bins and pressed on the cheapest quality vinyl resembling compressed coal dust. It was a conspiracy! It was also the end of the first vinyl era.
But now it's back! Well, it never really went away, and suddenly there are pressing plants springing up everywhere.
Here at Vinylera we deal solely in the sale of quality new vinyl records. From regular back catalogue reissues, many pressed on gorgeous 180gram vinyl, to high end audiophile pressings and other nuggets from around the globe. All guaranteed brand new and in most cases still sealed.
We aim to cover all genres of music from the fifties to the mid eighties with some contemporary releases from those artists thrown in for good measure! You can search by genre, artist, title and by specialist label. Whether you're into prog, psych, metal, jazz, soul, blues or whatever, if there's a current vinyl pressing we hope to have it or at least be able to order it for you.
Feel free to contact us if you have any specific queries or wants but most importantly have fun and thank you for keeping the spirit of vinyl alive!
